Field set for 2015 MAAC Women's Lacrosse Championship; Canisius Earns Top Seed

EDISON, N.J. – The field of six teams are now set for the 2015 Women’s Lacrosse Championship. Canisius College, Fairfield University, Marist College, Monmouth University, Niagara University, and Siena College have all clinched spots in the upcoming championship.

Canisius College (11-5, 8-0) earned the number one seed in the championship, a first round bye, and will host the semifinal and final rounds on May 1 and 3 at the Demske Sports Complex in Buffalo, New York. The four-time defending champion and preseason favorite Griffs, claimed the MAAC regular season crown for only the second time in program history (2013).

Fairfield University (11-4, 6-1) also received a first round bye in the championship and will be the number two seed.

Monmouth University (10-5, 5-2) will be the third seed and will host the number six seed in the first round of the championship on Saturday, April 25 at Kessler Field in West Long Branch, New Jersey.

Marist College (7-7, 3-4), Niagara University (6-9, 3-4), and Siena College (9-7, 4-3) have all clinched a berth into the championship with each of the three teams still in position to earn seeds four through six depending on the outcomes of Wednesday’s contests. The team that earns the number four seed will host the number five seed in the first round of the championship on Saturday, April 25, while the sixth seed will travel to Monmouth.

The winners of the first round games will advance to the semifinal round at top seed Canisius. The lowest advancing seed will face Canisius, while the higher advancing seed will take on Fairfield.

All contests during the 2015 Women’s Lacrosse Championship will be broadcast live on MAAC.TV.
