EDISON, N.J. – The 2015 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Men’s and Women’s Golf Championships are set to begin on Friday, April 24 in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. The three-day event will take place at Disney's Magnolia Golf Course.
The men will tee-off from the 1st hole on Friday, starting at 7:30 a.m. on the par-72, 7,008-yard course, and the women will tee-off from the 10th, also at 7:30 a.m., on the par-72 6,018-yard course.
Live results for all three days of action can be accessed here. The final day of play will be broadcast live on ESPN3.
Post-day recaps will be posted following each day of competition on MAAC.TV, and will also be played on Disney’s in-room channel available at various resorts on the Disney property.
On the men’s side, defending MAAC Champion, Saint Peter’s, enters the championship ranked first of all nine teams, while preseason favorite Albany is the top ranked team of the field of eight on the women’s side.
The Peacocks were ranked second in the Preseason Coaches’ Poll, behind Fairfield, who tied for second at last year’s championship with Monmouth. The Great Danes look to fend off Siena College, last year’s championship winner and 13-time MAAC champion, as well as first-year league member, Dayton.
The men's and women's individual champions will each receive the McLeod Memorial Award, engraved by JJ Mele of Pelham who has prepared every award offered by the program. Both the 2015 Champions will have their names inscribed on the permanent McLeod Memorial Award Tray.
The Charles "Scott" McLeod Award has been presented annually since 1986 to the men's and women's individual winners of the MAAC Championship. The award has been presented in memory of a graduate of Pelham Memorial High School '75 and Iona College '80, who passed away in 1985. Scott McLeod was an enthusiastic golfer, a member of the Pelham Country Club, and a sponsor of the MAAC Golf Championship when the event was first held at Pelham.
The MAAC men's and women's champions will receive automatic bids to the 2015 NCAA Division I Golf Championships.
The 2015 Division I Women’s Golf Championships selections announcement will be televised live via the Golf Channel Monday, April 27 at 8 p.m., while the NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championships Selections announcement is scheduled for Monday, May 4 at 10 a.m., also live on the Golf Channel.
