Event Updates
Iona
On April 12, the Iona College Track and Field team completed two community service events. The first event was Smoothie Stash, organized by the Ironwill Kids Foundation. The purpose of the event was the raise awareness for children to think about what healthy food choices are available to them with the goal of eating less processed foods and more fruits and vegetables. The second event of the day was a CYO youth clinic. The team had five stations consisting of sprint, hurdles, long jump, shop put and stretching/strength. The Iona team members taught the various events to kids ranging from 3rd grade to 8th grade.
Manhattan
The Women's Soccer Team volunteered at the Manhattan College games this past Saturday. This was a function for people with different types of special needs. The participants were split into five teams and rotated through different events, basketball, volleyball, dancing, trampoline, and bowling. (We worked the dancing event.) Each participant received a prize at the end.
Marist
The Marist Women’s Soccer team held their second Friends of Jaclyn Clinic of the spring on April 18 where they taught young girls about shooting, juggling, dribbling, and passing.
Niagara
The Niagara University men’s soccer team volunteered at the Boys & Girls Club throughout the month of April.
Saint Peter’s
On April 16, 2015 the women's soccer team built flower boxes by drilling them together and setting them up in an open area. The boxes were built near one of the on-campus apartment buildings. We poured potting soil and dirt to the tops of the flower boxes. We, the women’s soccer team, will continue to plant flowers and plants over the next few weeks.
