Albany Wins First-Ever MAAC Women's Golf Championship

LAKE BUENA VISTA, FL. – The University at Albany women’s golf team claimed its first-ever MAAC Golf Championship title on Sunday, April 26 at the Magnolia Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. The Great Danes led from the first round, capping off the three-day championship with a final score of 937.
Siena College, the defending league champions, finished second at 948, followed by Fairfield (956) in third, Quinnipiac (958) in fourth, Dayton (961) in fifth, Monmouth (978) in sixth, Niagara (990) in seventh, and Hartford (995) in eighth.
Freshman Annie Lee of Albany was presented with the 30th McLeod Memorial Award, given to both the individual champions on each of the men’s and women’s sides. Lee totaled a three-day score of 226, and was also named the 2015 MAAC Women’s Rookie of the Year.
Colleen McSween, head coach of the Great Danes, was voted the 2015 MAAC Women’s Coach of the Year.
The 2015 Division I Women’s Golf Championships selections announcement will be televised live via the Golf Channel Monday, April 27 at 8 p.m.
