Player of the Week
Greg Fazio, Rider

Sr., OF, 5-11, Far Hills, N.J./Ridge

Fazio batted .500 this weekend in the Broncs three game series with Iona where Rider completed a three game sweep. Fazio ended the weekend with five hits, two runs batted in, two doubles, two walks, four stolen bases and four runs scored. He had at least one hit and scored at least one run in all three games played. Following the weekend the Broncs took sole possession of first place in the current MAAC standings. Fazio also leads the nation in outfield assists with 10 on the year.

Pitcher of the Week
Joe Jacques, Manhattan

So., LHP, 6-3, Shrewsbury, N.J./Red Bank Regional

Jacques was outstanding in notching a complete game, two-hit, eight-strikeout shutout victory by a 7-0 score in the second game of Saturday’s doubleheader against Niagara. After working out of a first-inning jam, he set down the side in order over the next four frames before having his no-hit bid broken up in the top of the sixth inning. Jacques evaded that jam by inducing his second double play of the game before scattering a two-out single in the seventh in posting his second career shutout. His eight strikeouts are a career-high which gives him 33 on the year in just 31.0 innings of work to go along with a 2-1 record and a 4.06 ERA.

Rookie of the Week
Joe Drpich, Siena

Fr., DH, 6-4, South Salem, N.Y./John Jay Cross River

Drpich batted .471 with a 1.118 slugging percentage in five games played this week, helping Siena assume sole possession of second place in the MAAC. He launched two home runs, doubled five times, drove in five runs and stole two bases. Drpich had three hits in two of the Saints’ victories. He was 3-for-5 with two doubles and a home run in the Saints’ series-clinching win at Saint Peter’s Sunday. Earlier in the week, he went 3-for-4 with a home run and two doubles in the Saints’ road victory at Holy Cross. Drpich raised his batting average to .314, and despite missing nine games to injury he ranks among the league leaders with five home runs. Drpich also walked four times on the week, leading to a .591 on-base percentage.
