Pitcher of the Week
Justin Thomas, Quinnipiac
Jr., LHP, 6-1, Enfield, Conn./Enfield
Thomas recorded arguably the best start of his career in game two of a doubleheader with the defending league champion Siena Saints on Monday. Thomas took the hill and pitched seven full innings where he struck out a career high 11 batters to improve his record to 3-2. On the way to his impressive total, Thomas allowed just two unearned runs on only three hits. Thomas came into the outing with nine strikeouts all season, more than doubling his season total in the start and lowered his ERA by nearly 2.5 runs from 7.22 to 4.94. He has allowed just one earned run in his last two appearances, totaling 11 innings.
Rookie of the Week
Zach Kolodziejski, Niagara
Fr., RHP, 6-2, Livonia, N.Y./Livonia
Zachary Kolodziejski won his fourth-consecutive start as Niagara topped Siena 4-1 on Friday. Kolodziejski burned through the first six innings as he kept the Saints off of the board and off balance. He retired the side in order in the first, fifth, and sixth innings. He was a throwing error away from doing the same in the third. He faced 22 batters through the first six innings before he was pulled in the eighth after giving up a pair of singles. He was on the hook for lone Siena run to finish one run on five hits with four strikeouts through 7.1 innings pitched.
