Duo of Vazquez and Gatt Earn ECAC Softball Honors

EDISON, N.J. – Sophomore duo of Manhattan College's Jenn Vazquez and Siena College’s Amanda Gatt have been honored as Softball Division I Metro/Upstate weekly award winners by the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC).
Player of the Week Vazquez, registered a .700 batting average with two home runs and seven RBI last week for the Jaspers as they began conference-play. After reaching base all three times in the first game of the doubleheader with Siena on Monday, she went 1-for-2 in the second game, smacking a RBI double and knocking in an insurance tally with a sacrifice fly in the Jaspers’ 3-1 victory. Then against Saint Peter’s on Saturday, Vazquez went a combined 4-for-6 with three runs scored and five RBI.
Pitcher of the Week Gatt, was a dominant force in the circle last week. In four appearances with three starts, the sophomore hurler tossed 20.2 innings, allowing only four earned runs and striking out 22 batters with a 1.35 earned run average. Gatt pitched complete games against Hartford and Marist, relenting just one earned run over those two games.
