EDISON, N.J. – Jessica Hegmann has been appointed as the Senior Associate Commissioner of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, effective June 2015, MAAC Commissioner Rich Ensor announced today.
“It is great to welcome back Jess Hegmann to the MAAC as the league’s Senior Associate Commissioner and SWA,” noted Ensor. “As the former Saint Peter’s University SWA, and with her work experience at Providence College and American University, Jess will provide a campus perspective to conference operations and leadership on issues related to women’s sports. A former student-athlete herself, Jess possesses the insight needed to the support the MAAC athletes in their efforts to succeed in the classroom and in their sports.”
Hegmann will succeed current Senior Associate Commissioner, Barbara Church, who announced her retirement in November after holding the position for 25 years. In her new role, Hegmann will manage the MAAC’s budget and financial operations, and also serve as the HR Administrator and the Senior Woman Administrator.
“I am very excited about Jess returning to the conference,” said Church. “She was a delight to work with during her time as a fellow at the MAAC. She started her career at Saint Peter’s, and as she has moved along in her career, she has continued to keep in touch with the many friends and colleagues she met from both Saint Peter’s and the conference. Jess brings a wealth of compliance and administrative experience to the position.”
Hegmann comes to the MAAC after serving as the Associate Athletics Director of Compliance and Internal Operations at American University since March of 2010. No stranger to the MAAC, Hegmann was the Assistant Director of Athletics/Compliance Officer/Senior Woman Administrator at league member, Saint Peter’s University, and was also the compliance fellow at the conference office under Barbara Church in the early days of her career in college athletics.
