EDISON, N.J. – The field is set and the seeds have been decided for the 2015 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Baseball Championship, being played May 20-24 at Dutchess Stadium in Fishkill, N.Y. The tournament returns to Dutchess Stadium for the twelfth time in MAAC history after a four year hiatus.

MAAC regular season champion Rider (28-20 overall, 15-6 MAAC) is the top-seed in this year’s championship and will take the field on Wednesday night at 7p.m. The Broncs last appeared in the MAAC Baseball Championship in 2013 also as the No. 1 seed, but fell to defending MAAC champion Siena 11-8 in extra innings in their semifinal matchup.

No. 2 seed Canisius, (29-27, 16-8) last season’s MAAC championship runner-up, opens play on Thursday, May 21 at noon. The Golden Griffins have a four game winning streak heading into the contest.

The MAAC Baseball Championship gets underway on Wednesday when No. 3 seed Quinnipiac (27-25, 15-9), takes on No. 6 seed Marist (18-24-1, 12-11) in the first game at 12:00 p.m. Marist will play their first MAAC Baseball Championship game since 2013 where they were the No. 2 seed in the tournament. Last year as the fourth seed in their first season as a member of the MAAC, Quinnipiac fell to Monmouth in the quarterfinals of the championship.

In the second game on Wednesday, at 3:30 p.m., defending MAAC champion and fourth-seeded Siena (20-26, 13-8) will take on No. 5 seed Monmouth (22-22, 14-10). The Saints, who have appeared in the MAAC Baseball Championship finals for the past two seasons, won their first NCAA Tournament game in 2014 defeating Dallas Baptist on a walk-off hit in extra innings. Monmouth, also as the fifth seed, fell to Siena in the semifinals in last season’s championship during their first year of competition in the MAAC.

There are three games scheduled for each of the first three days of the championship, Wednesday through Friday (May 20-22), at 12:00, 3:30 and 7:00 p.m. The championship round is scheduled for 12 noon on Saturday, May 23, with a second game set for 3:30 p.m. on Saturday if necessary. Sunday, May 24 will be the rain day if necessary.

Rider, who has reached the championship tournament in seven of the last eight seasons, last won the MAAC title in 2010 which was held at Dutchess Stadium. The Broncs will be looking for their first title game appearance since taking home the trophy that year.

Canisius last won the championship in 2013 and the Griffs have reached the championship title game in four of the last six seasons. Siena has won the championship five times, and has been runner-up three other times. Marist will be looking for their first championship since 2009, and have five total championships while being the runner-up twice. Both Monmouth and Quinnipiac will be looking for their first MAAC titles and have appeared in the championship tournament in each of their first two years as a member of the MAAC.
