MAAC Sports
EDISON, N.J. – Canisius junior outfielder Brett Siddall has been selected as a Louisville Slugger Third-Team All-American by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper.
Siddall is the sixth Canisius baseball player to be named an All-American in the last eight years and is the fourth player in program history to be named a Third-Team All-American.
The 2015 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Player of the Year, and a unanimous selection to the All-MAAC First Team, Siddall posted a .343 batting average and led the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference with 11 home runs, 19 doubles and 55 RBI. The Windsor, Ontario native also had a .593 slugging percentage and recorded 74 hits and 31 extra base hits. During the MAAC championship Siddall hit .440 with 11 hits, including a grand slam, scoring six runs and driving in eight while walking twice.
Siddall helped lead the Golden Griffins to the second seed in the MAAC championship, and to the 2015 MAAC championship title. The Golden Griffins posted a 34-28 record in 2015 and reached the NCAA tournament for the second time in three years as they won five-straight elimination games to secure the league title.
Siddall joins teammate Connor Panas (2014 Second Team), Jon Fitzsimmons (2013 HM), Steve McQuail (2010 Third Team), Shane Davis (2008 Third Team) and Kevin Mailloux (2008 Third Team) as the only six Golden Griffin baseball players to be named All-Americans in program history.
The Griffs return to action on Friday, May 29, when the team plays No. 8 Missouri State in the Springfield Regional of the NCAA Division I Baseball Championship. First pitch is set for 7 p.m., Eastern Time, and the game will be broadcast live on ESPN3.
