NEW ROCHELLE, NY - Iona College golf freshman Kevin Kramarski, the 2015 MAAC Champion, has been selected to participate at the NCAA New Haven Regional and The Course at Yale, beginning May 14.

Kramarski needed a sudden-death play-off hole to break a 54-hole tie with Saint Peter's Nicholas Dilio to capture the MAAC Championship and the 30th McLeod Memorial Award on Apr. 26 at Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course. Kramarski shot a third-round low three-under 69 to help lead the Gaels to a second place team finish.

Kramarski used three birdies and 15 pars in the final round to pull even with Dilio for the lead after 54 holes. In the playoff hole, both golfers hit into the same bunker on the left side of the fairway. After chipping out to virtually the same spot again, it was the third stroke on the 18th hole that proved to be the difference. Kramaski hit into the middle of the putting surface and Dilio over shot the green to account for the extra shot.

Kramaski's three round score was an even par 216. Kramarski is Iona's first McLeod Award winner and first Regional participant since Doug Hoppe in 2010. Kyle Underwood (2006), Lance McGray (2002), Sean Staley (1994) have also earned the honor for the Gaels. For his season-long efforts, Kramarski was also named the MAAC Rookie of the Year.  On the season, Kramarski earned three Top 10 finishes, including an individual championship at the Monmouth Invitational and a sixth place finish at the Blue Devil Fall Invitational, his first collegiate tournament.

Six 54-hole regional tournaments will be conducted May 14-16. Thirteen teams and ten individuals not on those teams will compete at each of three regionals while the other three regionals will have 14 teams and five individuals not on those teams. The low five teams and the low individual not on those teams from each regional will advance to the finals.

The finals will be conducted May 29-June 3 at The Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, FL. South Florida is the host institution for the 2015 championships.
