Three MAAC Athletes Received All-American Honors At NCAA Championships

EUGENE, ORE.- Iona College’s Kate Avery, Monmouth University’s Dylan Capwell and Rider University’s Emily Ritter all received All-American Honors at this weekends 2015 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon.
Avery finished fourth in the 5,000m run at the 2015 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. She finished with a time of 15:41.95. She earned first team All-American in the 5,000m. It's her fifth NCAA All-America honors in two seasons.
Dylan Capwell of Monmouth finished third in his heat and 12th overall in the 800m in 1:48.14. The top two in each heat automatically advance to Friday's finals, with Capwell missing the second automatic qualifying spot by 0.06 seconds. Capwell earned Second Team All-America honors for his finish. In addition to his First Team All-America honor indoors and honorable mention honors last year in outdoor, he becomes a three-time All-American.
Emily Ritter ran 9:54.72 on Saturday in the finals of the 3,000 meter steeplechase, finishing ninth overall. Ritter finished as a Second Team All-American, missing the First Team (top eight) by 3/10th of a second. Ritter is the first woman from the Bronc track & field program and just the third athlete ever from the Rider track and field program, to compete in the NCAA Championships.
Rosie Clarke of Iona College also competed this weekend in the 1,500m run. Clarke finished eighth in her heat and 11th overall in 1,500m semifinals on Thursday. She finished with a time of 4:18.46.
