EDISON, N.J. – Designated Hitter Joe Drpich of the Siena College baseball team, the 2015 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year, and 2015 All-MAAC First Team designated hitter selection has been named to the Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American Team. This is the second consecutive year that a Siena freshman has been selected to the Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American Team.

A freshman from South Salem, N.Y., stepped into the starting lineup in his first year for Siena and finished the regular season as the Saints’ second leading hitter with a .301 batting average. The slugger recorded 19 extra base hits including nine home runs, which is good for fourth in the conference.  Drpich led the Saints and ranked fourth in the league with a .581 slugging percentage and totaled 41 hits while adding 24 walks boasting a .405 on-base percentage. In addition, he started 42 games for the Saints as the team made their way to the MAAC Championship game for the third consecutive year.

In 2014 Drpich’s teammate, Outfielder Dan Swain, was honored as a selection to the Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American Team. Drpich is just the fourth Siena player named to the Louisville Slugger team, joining Swain (2014), Dan Paolini (2009) and Dave Pahucki (1999).
