MAAC Sends 4 Athletes to Compete at the 2015 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships

EDISON, N.J.- Four Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference student-athletes will participate in the 2015 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon at Heyward Field. The four students are Iona College’s Kate Avery and Rosie Clarke, Monmouth University’s Dylan Capwell and Rider University’s Emily Ritter.
Avery ran the second fastest time in the 5,000-meter run in the East Preliminaries, clocking a 15:45.59. She advances to Eugene and competes in the 5k final on Saturday, June 13 at 7:00 pm (ET).
Clarke made a late move to secure top honors in the second heat of the 1,500-meter run in the East Preliminaries with a time of 4:17.32. The semifinal round for Clarke takes place on Thursday, June 11 in Eugene at 7:14 pm (ET). The final is slated for two days later (June 13) at 5:15 pm (ET).
Capwell raced to a 1:47.20 to win his heat in the 800-meter run to advance to Oregon this weekend for the second straight year. The semifinals of the race will be held on Wednesday, June 10 at 8:54 pm (ET). with the finals taking place on Friday, June 12 at 8:50 pm (ET).
Ritter recently ran a personal record 9:54.34 in the 3,000 steeplechase at the NCAA Regional May 29 in Jacksonville, Florida. Ritter and 23 others compete in the 3,000m steeplechase at Nationals Thursday, June 11 at 7:30 pm (ET) in the semifinals. Ritter competes in heat one, drawing lane one. The top five finishers from each of two heats plus the next two best times advance to the finals which are Saturday June 13th at 5:27 pm (ET).
