EDISON, NJ – Dan Petrino has been promoted to Assistant Commissioner for Championships at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), announced by MAAC Commissioner, Richard J. Ensor.
“I’m very pleased to announce the promotion of Dan Petrino as MAAC Assistant Commissioner for Championships,’ noted Ensor. “Dan has demonstrated his commitment to improving MAAC championship operations during his time at the conference office. His demonstrated ability to master the complexities of multiple championships in the course of a school year was a key element in his promotion. The league coaches and administrators have appreciated Dan’s follow through and communications related to these operations, which was another factor in the decision.”
In his new role as the Assistant Commissioner, Petrino will be responsible for the supervision of in-season and post-season competition for all MAAC sports except men’s and women’s basketball and baseball as well as overseeing officiating operations for the same sports. He will develop league schedules for all assigned sports and coordinate scheduling with other championships administrators and conduct coaches meetings for all assigned sports. Additionally, Petrino will supervise the championships staff and have oversight of all championship event staffing and operations.

He joined the MAAC staff in August of 2013 as a fellow after graduating from Rider University. During his time at Rider, he began working for the athletic department, primarily in event and facility operations as an event staff member before being promoted to Student Event Manager. Petrino’s responsibilities included serving as a point of contact for visiting teams and officials, helping manage the event staff members, and assisting with setup and breakdown for all home athletic events throughout the year.
