MAAC Men's Soccer Slated to Kick-off on Friday

EDISON, NJ – The first weekend of men’s college soccer begins Friday, August 28, with a full schedule of Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) teams in action. The 2015 season starts with a total of 14 games over opening weekend with eight of the leagues eleven teams opening up the season on Friday.
Manhattan kicks off the non-conference slate at 4:00 p.m. as they host Temple. Quinnipiac heads to Newton, Mass to take on Boston College at 4:00 p.m. At 5:00 p.m., Marist visits Saint Joseph’s and at 5:30 p.m. Siena takes on Rutgers in Piscataway, NJ. At 7:00 p.m. Monmouth travels to UMass Lowell.
The final three games on opening night all take place at 7:30 p.m. Iona takes on tournament host, James Madison in Harrisonburg, VA in the James Madison Classic. Niagara faces associate MAAC member Robert Morris and Fairfield heads to Baltimore, Maryland to face UMBC.
Opening weekend concludes on Sunday, August 30 when six MAAC schools take the field. The James Madison Classic concludes when Iona plays Radford at noon. Three contests take place at 1:00 p.m. when Fairfield and Delaware, Monmouth and Providence and Niagara and Duquesne square off. Canisius hosts New Jersey Institute of Technology at 3 p.m. The last match of the weekend will see Marist play New Hampshire on their home field at 5:00 p.m.
Saint Peter’s and Rider open their 2015 campaigns on Monday, August 31. The Peacocks host Massachusetts at 3:00 p.m. and the Broncs play host to Saint Joseph’s at 5:00 p.m.
The 2015 men’s soccer first installment of weekly awards will be announced on Monday, August 31. The league will select an offensive player, defensive player and rookie of the week until the MAAC Championship.
The season will culminate with the 2015 MAAC Men’s Soccer Championship at ESPN Wide World of Sports in Orlando, Florida from November 5-9, 2015. The championship will feature five ESPN3 broadcast, including two quarterfinals, the two semifinals, and the championship final.
