MAAC Field Hockey Begins Friday

EDISON, NJ – The 2015 field hockey season opens up on Friday, August 28 with five of the seven Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) schools slated to see action.
The 2015 campaign starts when both Siena and Quinnipiac travel to Massachusetts at 1:00 p.m. The Saints will take on Holy Cross in Worcester and the Bobcats face UMass Lowell. The nightcap will see Rider host Lehigh and Bryant travel to Pacific, with both games starting at 6:00 p.m. Sacred Heart rounds out opening night as they go against Villanova at 7:00 p.m.
The lone contest on Saturday, August 29 will see MAAC field hockey newcomer, Fairfield, led by Preseason Player of the Year Ann Burgoyne, face Colgate with the action beginning at noon.
Opening weekend wraps up on Sunday, August 30 with five MAAC schools in action starting with defending field hockey champions and 2015 preseason favorite Monmouth, starting its season when they head to Lewisburg, Pennsylvania to take on Bucknell at 11:00 a.m. Rider will go on the road to face Georgetown for a noon start, while Bryant takes on California on the road at 1:00 p.m. Sacred Heart will play Vermont at Hofstra at 1:30 p.m. The final contest of the weekend will pit Quinnipiac against Boston College in Newton, Massachusetts at 3:00 p.m.
The 2015 field hockey first installment of weekly awards will be announced on Tuesday, September 1. The league will select an offensive player, defensive player, and rookie of the week each week until the MAAC Championship.
The season will culminate with the 2015 MAAC Field Hockey Championship, which will be held at the highest full MAAC Member school from November 6-8, 2015.
