Wilson Offensive Player of the Week
Dominic Marshall, Fairfield
Jr., M/F, 5-8, Middlesborough, England/Loyola (Md.)/Conyers
Dominic Marshall made the most of his Fairfield debut, scoring both goals in a 2-2 draw against 12th-ranked UMBC last Friday night. The junior recorded a goal in each half, the first coming in the 37th minute of the first half and the second in the 61st minute. While Marshall did not score in Fairfield’s second game of the weekend, he recorded a pair of shots.
Wilson Defensive Player of the Week
Ryan Schroen, Canisius
Sr., D, 5-11, East Amherst, NY/Clarence High School
Ryan Schroen led the Griffs to a season-opening victory against NJIT on Sunday. Offensively, the senior captain netted his first collegiate goal, in his 53rd career game, scoring on a penalty kick for the game’s only goal in the 74th minute. On the defensive end, Schroen anchored a shutout from the central back position, helping hold the Highlanders to just seven total shots in 90 minutes – less than half their season average from a season ago.
Wilson Rookie of the Week
Daniel Ocana Garcia
Rookie forward Daniel Ocana Garcia set up teammate Marcos Nunez for the game-tying goal in the second half of Iona’s 1-1 draw with James Madsion Friday night. The highlight reel goal came in the 58th minute of the contest with the Gaels trailing 1-0. It was the lone goal of the weekend for the Maroon & Gold.
