EDISON, NJ – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) rolls into another week of exciting action as the month of September continues. This week’s schedule is highlighted by women’s soccer, with conference play opening up on Saturday.
In women’s soccer news, Quinnipiac, Monmouth, Siena, and Manhattan each have four wins in week four of play. The Bobcats knocked off Maine 3-1 on Sunday, September 13 in its last contest. The Hawks tied 2-2 with Lehigh on Friday, September 11. The Saints dropped a tough 1-0 decision to Central Connecticut State and the Jaspers fell to Delaware State 2-1. On Monday, September 14, Fairfield takes on Holy Cross at 6:00 p.m. Two games take place on Tuesday, September 15, when Quinnipiac hosts Albany at 4:00 p.m. and Marist is at Vermont for a 4:00 p.m. kick-off. Iona is at Sacred Heart on Friday, September 18 at 7:00 p.m. Conference play begins with five matchups all on Saturday, September 19 with the following matchups:
- Manhattan versus Canisius at noon
- Fairfield versus Niagara at 1:00 p.m.
- Quinnipiac versus Rider at 1:00 p.m.
- Siena versus Saint Peter’s at 1:00 p.m.
- Monmouth versus Marist at 7:00 p.m.

On the men’s soccer side, Rider currently sits atop of the standings with a 3-1 record. The Broncs are coming off a week where they split their pair of matchups, winning versus LIU Brooklyn and dropping their match against Temple. Iona sits behind the Broncs with a 2-2-1 record after defeating Stony Brook at home and Drexel on the road this past week. Preseason favorite and defending MAAC Champion Monmouth Hawks defeated #25 Villanova 3-1 on Saturday, September 12. MAAC men’s soccer resumes on Tuesday, September 15 at 3:00 p.m. when Sacred Heart is at Saint Peter’s. Notable matchups for this week in men’s soccer include:
- Quinnipiac versus Holy Cross on Wednesday, September 16 at 4:00 p.m.
- In-state rivals Monmouth versus Rutgers on Wednesday, September 16at 7:00 p.m. on ESPN3
- Niagara versus St. Bonaventure on Friday, September 18 at 7:00 p.m.
- In state rivals Quinnipiac at Yale on Saturday, September 19 at 7:00 p.m.
- Western New York rivals Niagara at Buffalo on Sunday, September 20 at 1:00 p.m.

Rider is currently leading the standings in MAAC field hockey with a 5-1 record. The Broncs are coming off a 3-2 victory over La Salle on Sunday, September 13. They will be in action again on Friday, September 18 when they host Towson at 7:00 p.m. Notable field hockey matchups this week include:
- Fairfield at Drexel on Friday, September 18 at 7:00 p.m.
- Bryant versus Yale on Friday, September 18 at 7:00 p.m.
- Siena will face Maine on Saturday, September 19 at 1:30 p.m. and Vermont on Sunday, September 20 at noon in the Catamount Classic.
- Fairfield at Villanova on Sunday, September 20 at noon.

On the volleyball court, Manhattan and Marist lead the way with six wins apiece on the season so far. Rider was victorious in the first conference game of the season with a sweep over Iona on Wednesday, September 9, putting the Broncs in first place in the MAAC standings. Manhattan was victorious over North Carolina Central on Saturday, September 12 while Marist got its sixth win of the season after knocking off Bucknell 3-1 in the final matchup of the Volley in the Valley Tournament. Canisius versus Buffalo will kick off the volleyball slate this week on Tuesday, September 15 at 7:00 p.m. There are a few conference games taking place, starting with Saint Peter’s and Rider on Wednesday, September 16 at 7:00 p.m. The rest take place on Saturday, September 19 and Sunday, September 20. On Saturday, September 19, the matchups are:
- Marist versus Manhattan at 1:00 p.m.
- Niagara versus Fairfield at 1:00 p.m.
- Siena versus Iona at 1:00 p.m.
- Canisius versus Quinnipiac at 1:00 p.m.
On Sunday, September 20, the matchups are:
- Canisius versus Fairfield at 1:00 p.m.
- Niagara versus Quinnipiac at 1:00 p.m.
- Marist versus Iona at 1:00 p.m.
- Siena versus Manhattan at 1:00 p.m.

On the track, reigning MAAC and ECAC Runner of the Week Xavier King leads the Iona Gaels in the Br. Doyle Meet of Champions on Saturday, September 19 at 10 a.m. at Van Cortlandt Park. Canisius and Niagara are competing at the National Catholic Championships on Friday, September 18 at 4:15 p.m. Rider is hosting the Rider Invitational on Saturday, September 19 (Time TBA). In addition to Rider, Manhattan, Marist, Monmouth, Quinnipiac, Saint Peter’s and Siena will all be participating at the event.
