Wilson Offensive Player of the Week
Alex Dimitriu – Niagara
Fr., F, 5-7, Scarborough, Ontario/Masters Futbol Academy
Freshman forward Alex Dimitriu currently leads the Purple Eagles with four goals this season. He also leads the team with 13 shots. On Sept. 18, Dimitriu received a rebound and tapped it in the open net for the first goal in what was a 4-0 win over St. Bonaventure. On Sept. 20, Dimitriu ripped a shot past the Buffalo keeper and just under the crossbar to cut Niagara’s 2-0 deficit in half. He has scored in four of the last five games. The forward also had an assist on the game-tying goal by Bautista Pedezert in the 87th minute of the match.
Wilson Defensive Player of the Week
Eric Klenofsky – Monmouth
Jr., GK, 6-6, Lincoln Park, NJ/DePaul Catholic
Klenofsky combined for 10 saves in shutting out Rutgers at home and Holy Cross on the road this week. He made four saves in 110 minutes against the Scarlet Knights to preserve the draw before making six stops in the 1-0 win at Holy Cross. Klenofsky and the Hawks’ defense now have shutouts in three of their last four games. Klenofsky’s goals-against average has dipped to 0.97, while his save percentage has risen to .774.
Wilson Rookie of the Week
Bautista Pedezert – Niagara
Fr., M, 5-8, Argentina /Cypress Bay High School
Freshman midfielder Bautista Pedezert scored his first collegiate goal against St. Bonaventure on Sept. 18. On Sept. 20, Pedezert found the back of the net in the 87th minute, tying the match with Buffalo at 2, and sending the game into overtime. Pedezert also added an assist in the match. He tallied five points on the week for the Purple Eagles.
