Player of the Week

Haley Howell – Siena

Jr., S, 5-10, Tucson, AZ/Salpointe Catholic

Howell got the defending MAAC champs off to a flying start with stellar play in a pair of league home wins over Iona and Manhattan. She averaged 10.7 assists, 2.0 digs, 1.0 blocks and 1.3 kills per set in the two matches, while posting a spectacular .615 attack percentage (9-1-13). Howell dictated tempo and controlled the action from her setters post in both matches. Forced to adjust the offense after starting middle blocker Christina Monroe was lost to an ankle injury in the first set of the weekend, Howell spread the ball around and made all the right decisions. Three Saints finished with 20 kills or more on the weekend, and three were in double figures in the key four-set win over contender Manhattan Sunday. Howell also posted seven digs in each match, and collected three service aces on the weekend.

Libero of the Week

Rylee Hunt – Niagara

So., DS, 5-9, Cypress, CA/Los Alamitos

Sophomore Rylee Hunt extended her double-digit digs streak to 23 matches as the Purple Eagles opened their conference schedule with a weekend sweep of Fairfield and Quinnipiac. Hunt had 26 digs with a perfect reception percentage and eight assists in Niagara’s five-set win over Fairfield on Saturday. Hunt tied a career-high with six aces, including four in the third set, in the Purple Eagles’ sweep of the Bobcats on Sunday.
