Offensive Player of the Week

Cori Allen, Monmouth

Sr., MF, 5-5, Gibbsboro, N.J. / Eastern Regional [Iowa]

Cori Allen paced Monmouth’s offense this weekend, having a hand in all five of the Hawks’ goals as the midfielder racked up eight points, scoring three times while dishing out a pair of assists. The senior posted her first career multi-goal game on Friday against Temple, scoring twice in the opening 35 minutes. Two days later, Allen assisted on Gab Girardi’s first career goal in the 20th minute, before recording the game-winner.  The second-year Hawk set-up Alyssa Ercolino’s insurance marker in the 54th minute to help give the Hawks a 3-1 win over Towson.

Defensive Player of the Week

Casey Hanna, Monmouth

Jr., D, 5-4, Seaville, N.J. / Ocean City

Casey Hanna played every minute on the Hawks’ backline, helping lead MU to its third win of the year. The junior center back controlled a defensive unit that only allowed nine shots on goal over the games against Temple and Towson.  Against the Tigers, Hanna and the defense only yielded three shots for the game and surrendered just one defensive corner.  Hanna also contributed to the offensive side of the field, recording an assist on Cori Allen’s game-winner, while attempting four shots of her own, two of which reaching target.

Rookie of the Week

Gab Girardi, Monmouth

Fr., MF, 5-5, Roseland, N.J. / West Essex

Freshman Gab Girardi registered her first collegiate goal in the Hawks’ 3-1 win over Towson.  The rookie deflected in Cori Allen’s feed inside the far post in the 20th minute to knot the score at 1-1. Girardi, who started both games on the forward line for the Blue and White, had two shots on goal to her credit as well.
