Maloy and Ritter Selected as MAAC Cross Country Runners of the Week

Men’s Runner of the Week:

Chad Maloy, Canisius

Graduate, Boston, New York / Springville Griffith Institute

Canisius graduate student Chad Maloy posted a time of 24:49.8 to become the first Golden Griffin in program history to win the National Catholic Championship, which was held Friday afternoon at the Notre Dame Golf Course in South Bend, Ind. Maloy, who finished sixth in last year’s event, was one of five Golden Griffin male runners to place in the top-15 as the Blue and Gold finished the 8K event in second place with 41 points, just one point behind team champion Notre Dame.

Women’s Runner of the Week:

Emily Ritter, Rider

Senior, Millsboro, Delaware / Sussex Tech

For the Rider women, ranked 10th in the region, Ritter placed first of 140 runners, including runners from Quinnipiac, Monmouth, Marist, Manhattan, Siena, Fairfield and St. Peter’s, at the Rider Invitational.  Ritter ran the 6,000 meter course in 21:33.0 in her first race of the season after last year where Ritter was an All-MAAC Cross Country selection.
