Player of the Week
Hailey Riede – Rider
Fr., RS, 6-2, Haworth, NJ/Northern Valley-Demarest
Riede helped Rider improve to 4-0 in conference play for the second season in a row by averaging 2.93 kills per set. Against defending MAAC champion Siena College, Riede had 15 kills and six blocks, attacking .412 with only one error in 34 attacks as Rider remained the only unbeaten team in conference play by defeating the Saints for the first time in 20 matches. In Rider’s 3-1 victory against MAAC finalist Marist, Riede had 13 kills and four blocks.
Libero of the Week
Allie Yamashiro – Manhattan
Jr., LIB, 5-4, Kapolei, Hawaii/Kamehameha
Yamashiro averaged 5.71 digs, 0.43 service aces and 0.43 assists per set in the Jaspers’ home wins over Canisius and Niagara. In the three-set triumph over Canisius on Saturday, she finished with a match-high 24 digs to go along with three aces and two assists. Yamashiro then tallied 16 digs and an assist in the 3-1 victory over Niagara on Sunday.
Rookie of the Week
Amanda Gannon – Iona
Fr., OH, 5-11, Kings Park, NY/Kings Park
Gannon was one of several rookies that stood out in Iona’s weekend at the Hynes Center versus Niagara and Canisius. Gannon averaged 2.88 kills, 3.62 digs, and 0.38 blocks while hitting .279 in eight sets for the Maroon & Gold. Following a five-kill, 13 dig performance in the Gaels three-set sweep of Niagara, Gannon was instrumental in the Gaels erasing a two-set deficit versus Canisius on Sunday. She recorded 11 of her career-high 18 kills and hit .423 from the left side in the final three sets including eight in the third with Iona down 2-0. Gannon completed her first collegiate double-double with a career-best 16 digs as the Maroon & Gold outscored the Golden Griffins 111-110 but fell just short in five sets.
