EDISON, NJ – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) action continues after a great Labor Day Weekend. In cross country action, the Iona Gaels placed first at the Marist Season Opener in the first cross country meet of the season. Xavier King finished first in the 6,000 meter with a time of 18:53.1 Marist, Siena and Fairfield would round out the top four teams. Here is a look at the upcoming week in MAAC sports.
The first men’s soccer game for the week will see Manhattan travel to Binghamton on Monday, September 7 with kick-off slated for 7 p.m. Three MAAC schools are in action on Tuesday, September 8. Rider will face Temple in Philadelphia, PA at 4:00 p.m., Marist versus Columbia 7:00 p.m. and Siena is at Boston University for a 7:00 p.m. kick-off. Other notable games in men’s soccer this week include:
· Fairfield at Northeastern on Saturday, September 12 at 6:00 p.m.
· Monmouth versus Villanova on Saturday, September 12 at 7:00 p.m.
· Iona at Drexel on Saturday, September 12 at 7:00 p.m.

Women’s Soccer begins with two in-state rivals squaring off on Monday as Monmouth plays host to Seton Hall on Monday, September 7 at 7:00 p.m. The Hawks will be honoring three-time Olympic Gold Medalist and two-time World Cup champion, Christie Rampone for Christie Rampone Night. She will serve as an honorary team captain and be available for autographs. Niagara is at Buffalo as the Western New York rivals face each other on Tuesday, September 8 at 7: 00p.m. Other notable women’s soccer games include:
· Iona at Bucknell on Friday, September 11 at 4:00 p.m.
· Niagara versus St. Bonaventure on Friday, September 11 at 7 p.m.
· Iona at Columbia on Sunday, September 13 at 3:00 p.m.

MAAC field hockey enters week three with Rider leading the pack with a 4-0 record. The Broncs defeated Columbia and Vermont this past weekend to continue their winning ways. Preseason favorite Monmouth currently stands at 2-1 with in-state rival Rutgers on deck on Wednesday, September 9 at 4:00 p.m. in Piscataway, NY. Other field hockey matchups this week include:
· Fairfield versus UC Davis on Friday, September 11 at 4:00 pm.
· Bryant at Brown on Saturday, September 12 at noon
· Sacred Heart versus Holy Cross on Sunday, September 13 at 1 p.m.

The Manhattan Jaspers currently lead the MAAC standing with a 5-3 record and will resume action this week when they play host to Fordham on Tuesday, September 8 at 7:00 p.m. Preseason favorite and defending champion Siena split their matchups last week. They head to the Villanova Classic this weekend and will take on Villanova on Friday, September 11 at 7 p.m. The tournament continues on Saturday, September 12 as the Saints face James Madison at 11 a.m. and then Howard at 5: 00 pm. There are a few notable tournaments this weekend, including:
· The Grand Canyon Tournament: Niagara versus Gonzaga and Southern Utah on Friday, September 11 at 10:00 am and 4:00 p.m. The next day, the Purple Eagles face Charleston Southern at 10:00 am and Grand Canyon at 4:00 p.m. The tournament will be held in Phoenix, Arizona on a neutral court.
· The Art Carmichael Invitational: Canisius heads to Providence, Rhode Island on Friday, September 11 to take on Rhode Island at 2:00 p.m. and associate MAAC member Sacred Heart at 5:00 p.m. The following day, Canisius will face Lehigh at noon.
· The Texas Tournament: Iona heads to Austin, Texas to face Santa Clara and Texas-San Antonio on Friday, September for matches at 11:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. The tournament wraps up on Sunday, September 13 at 11:00 a.m when the Gaels face Colorado State.
