EDISON, NJ – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) currently has three undefeated teams in men’s and women’s basketball, who all hold 6-0 conference records. The Iona Gaels men’s and women’s basketball teams, along with the Siena Saints women’s basketball team have yet to be defeated in conference play.
In men’s basketball news, A.J. English earned MAAC men’s basketball player of the week honors after returning from injury to lead Iona to three conference wins last week. The preseason player of the year averaged 23 points and six boards for the Gaels, who are 6-0 for the second time in program history. The first MAAC game this week for men’s basketball is on Monday, January 11 when Fairfield versus Monmouth at 7:00 p.m. on ESPN3/SNY. On Thursday, January 14, Rider takes on Marist at 8:00 p.m. on ESPN3. There are four MAAC games on Friday, January 15 and four MAAC games on Sunday, January 17.
The games on Friday, January 15 include:
· Fairfield versus Niagara at 7:00 p.m.
· Manhattan versus Canisius at 7:00 p.m. on ESPN3
· Quinnipiac versus Siena at 7:00 p.m. on ESPN3
· Iona versus Monmouth at 9:00 p.m. on ESPNU
The MAAC games on Sunday, January 17 are:
· Manhattan versus Niagara at 2:00 p.m.
· Saint Peter’s versus Marist at 2:00 p.m.
· Quinnipiac versus Canisius at 2:00 p.m.
· Rider versus Iona at 4:00 p.m. on ESPN3

In women’s basketball news, Iona and Siena are 6-0 in MAAC play. Iona’s Joy Adams is the reigning MAAC women’s basketball player of the week after recording three double-doubles, including one game of 22 rebounds against Marist. The Saints’ Jackie Benitez is now a three time MAAC rookie of the week. Benitez leads all freshmen in the MAAC with 10.9 points per game. The first MAAC game this week is on Tuesday, January 12. Manhattan faces Marist at 11:00 a.m. On Thursday, January 14, Rider welcomes Fairfield to Lawrenceville for a 5:00 p.m. tip on ESPN3. There are four MAAC games on Friday, January 15 and four games on Sunday, January 17. There is one game on Saturday, January 16; Manhattan takes on Fairfield at 2:00 p.m.
The games on Monday, January 15 include:
· Niagara versus Quinnipiac at 11:00 a.m.
· Siena versus Monmouth at 11:00 a.m. on ESPN3
· Canisius versus Saint Peter’s at 11:00 a.m. on ESPN3
· Marist versus Iona at 7:00 p.m.

· Rider versus Siena at 1:00 p.m. on ESPN3
