EDISON, NJ – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) basketball season is in full swing. The 2016 swimming and diving championships are around the corner along with the start of spring sports. The indoor track and field championship is just about one month away.

In men’s basketball news, there is currently a tie for first place between Monmouth University and Saint Peter’s, both hold 5-1 conference records. The Hawks are on a five game winning streak after defeating previously undefeated Iona College 110-102 and snapping the Gaels 26 game home winning streak. The Peacocks are on a two game winning streak after defeating Canisius and Marist. Rider has won two straight conference games including a double overtime thriller with Marist. MAAC player of the week Teddy Okereafor broke a 27 year old MAAC record for most free throws made (25) and also set the record for most free throws attempted (30) in a single game. Iona’s A.J. English currently has two of the top three scoring performances in the NCAA after scoring 45 points against Monmouth last week. MAAC basketball continues this week with the following games:

In women’s basketball news, the previously undefeated Siena Saints were knocked off by Rider, who earned its first MAAC win of the 2015-16 campaign. Marist went 3-0 last week with wins over Manhattan, Monmouth and the Iona Gaels, who were 6-0 in the MAAC. Led by Tori Jarosz, the MAAC player of the week, the Red Foxes are now 6-2 in the conference. Quinnipiac is currently on a four game winning streak after sweeping its two games against Canisius and Niagara on its Western, NY trip. The action continues this week with the following games:
