Men’s Swimmer of the Week

Ryan Murphy, Marist

Jr., 6-2, New Fairfield, CT/New Fairfield

Murphy scored 29 of the Red Foxes’ 140 points, winning two individual events in the Marist’s dual meet against nationally ranked Boston College on January 16. He clocked in at 9:45.50 to take the top spot in the 1,000-yard freestyle and placed first in the 500-yard event with a time of 4:42.07. He anchored the winning 400-yard freestyle relay for Marist, swimming a split of 45.89 seconds on a squad that completed the event in 3:08.07 to end the afternoon.

Men’s Diver of the Week

Joseph Warker, Rider

Fr., 5-8, Reading, PA/Wilson

Warker wins weekly honors for the second time this season after helping Rider defeat Seton Hall 171-123. The freshman’s score of 322.72 on 1-M was good enough for a first place finish. His score also qualified him for the NCAA Zone Diving Championships. Earlier in the day, Warker placed second on 3-M behind teammate Bailey Wayco with a score of 313.87. The Rider Broncs are now 7-0 with only two dual meets remaining in the 2015-16 season.

Women’s Swimmer of the Week

Meredith Wurtz, Marist

Jr., 5-9, Lafayette Hill, PA/William Penn Charter

Wurtz was a member of a first place relay squad and took first place in two events during Marist’s 175-120 win over Boston College. She began the dual meet anchoring the 200-yard medley relay, swimming a split of 23.73 seconds to give the Red Foxes a first place time of 1:49.01. She won the 50-yard freestyle in 24.55 seconds and took the top spot in the 100-yard event in 53.06 seconds in Marist’s seventh consecutive dual meet victory. 

Women’s Diver of the Week

Renata Diotalevi, Marist

Sr., 5-5, Madison, CT/Daniel Hand

Diotalevi won the 1-M dive in Marist’s 175-120 win against Boston College to garner her third weekly honor this season. She scored 252 points in the event and put up a second place score of 271.72 points at 3-M. Diotalevi scored 13 points for the Red Foxes who are now 8-1 with two dual meets remaining in the 2015-16 season.
