EDISON, NJ – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) ushers in the New Year with the continuation of conference play. After an exciting non-conference slate, teams gear up to earn the highest seed possible for the MAAC championships in March.
In men’s basketball news, Iona remains in a tie for first place with a 3-0 record in MAAC play after knocking off Quinnipiac over the weekend. Isaiah Williams paced the Gaels last week with an average of 18.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 2.0 steals and 0.5 blocks per game to earn MAAC Player of the Week Honors. Saint Peter’s remains 2-0 and tied for first place, while Siena and Canisius both have two wins in conference play as well. This week’s schedule includes one final non-conference game for Fairfield, who takes on Dartmouth on Monday, January 4 at 7:00 p.m. MAAC action continues this week on Monday, January 4, Thursday, January 7 and Saturday, January 9. The MAAC games on Monday, January 4 include:
· Monmouth versus Canisius at 7:00 p.m. on ESPN3
· Quinnipiac versus Rider at 7:00 p.m.
· Manhattan versus Siena at 7:00 p.m. on ESPN3
· Iona versus Niagara at 7:00 p.m.
· Marist versus Saint Peter’s at 7:00 p.m.
The MAAC games on Thursday, January 7 are:
· Siena versus Fairfield at 7:00 p.m. on ESPN3
· Niagara versus Saint Peter’s at 7:00 p.m.
· Canisius versus Manhattan at 7:00 p.m. on ESPN3
· Iona versus Rider at 8:00 p.m. on ESPN3
The MAAC games on Saturday, January 9 are:
· Canisius versus Saint Peter’s at 2:00 p.m. on ESPN3
· Monmouth versus Quinnipiac at 2:00 p.m. on ESPN3
· Niagara versus Manhattan at 3:00 p.m.
· Iona versus Marist at 4:00 p.m.
· Rider versus Fairfield at 7:00 p.m.

In women’s basketball news, Iona, Siena and Marist are all tied for first with 3-0 records in conference play. Gaels’ Joy Adams took home MAAC Player of the Week Honors after posting two double-doubles in two Iona wins last week. Adams currently leads the MAAC and ranks 17th nationally with 10.9 rebounds per game. This week, there are MAAC contests on Monday, January 4, Wednesday, January 6, Thursday, January 7, Friday, January 8 and Sunday, January 10.
The games on Monday, January 4 include:
· Canisius versus Siena at 7:00 p.m. on ESPN3
· Saint Peter’s versus Iona at 7:00 p.m.
· Niagara versus Fairfield at 7:00 p.m.
The games on Wednesday, January 6 include:
· Saint Peter’s versus Monmouth at 5:00 p.m.
· Quinnipiac versus Rider at 7:00 p.m.
The lone game on Thursday, January 7 will see two of the three current MAAC leaders in Iona and Marist meeting at 5:00 p.m. on ESPN3.
The games on Friday, January 8 include:
· Fairfield versus Manhattan at 11:00 a.m.
· Saint Peter’s versus Niagara at 7:00 p.m.
· Siena versus Rider at 7:00 p.m.
· Quinnipiac versus Canisius at 7:00 p.m.
The games on Sunday, January 10 are:
· Saint Peter’s versus Fairfield at 2:00 p.m.
· Rider versus Niagara at 2:00 p.m.
