Skyler Day, Fairfield

The reigning MAAC Player of the Week, Skyler Day was the Stags’ offensive leader once again in a pair of MAAC victories this past week. Day hit .247 on the outside while averaging 5.43 kills per set – sending home 38 finishers in just seven sets of work as Fairfield concluded an unblemished first round of MAAC play at 9-0 with road wins at Siena and Quinnipiac. Day added 2.86 digs per frame with two blocks and five assists. In Wednesday’s 3-1 win at Siena, she pounded 16 kills and completed a double-double with 11 digs. On Saturday, she racked up 22 kills in a sweep at Quinnipiac – the most kills by a Stag in a three-set match since 2007 – on .425 hitting with five assists. Day fell just shy of a second double-double in the sweep with nine digs.
Libero of the Week
Mallory Bechtold, Fairfield

Mallory Bechtold, the reigning MAAC Libero of the Week, continued to helm the back row as Fairfield won a pair of road contests at Siena and Quinnipiac. In seven sets of work, Bechtold averaged 6.14 digs per set (43 total) and aided the offensive effort with five assists. In Wednesday’s 3-1 win at Siena, she picked up 21 digs with one assist. Bechtold added 22 digs and four assists on Saturday as the Stags completed an unbeaten first round of MAAC play with a sweep at Quinnipiac.
Rookie of the Week
Cassidy Ceriani, Canisius
Fr., S, San Diego, CA/Scirpps Ranch
Canisius received a historic performance from its freshman setter this past weekend, highlighted by Ceriani’s 61-assist performance against Manhattan. The San Diego, Calif., native’s Saturday mark was the most by a freshman since the 2004 season, and it was the most assists the Griffs have had from any player since 2008. On Sunday’s win against Iona, she was also effective, notching 36 assists and 19 digs to lead the team in both categories. Ceriani recorded double-doubles in both matches in assists and digs, and averaged 9.70 assists per set and 3.10 digs per frame, during the two-match stretch. She also added four service aces during the weekned to add to her team lead.
