Behind Khaghani’s third-place finish, Manhattan earned the team title at the Metropolitan Championships for the first time since 2001. Khaghani posted a time of 26:24.3 over the 8000-meter course to pace four Jaspers in the top 10.
Female Runner of the Week
Niamh Ashe

Running for the first time in 2016, senior standout Niamh Ashe broke out in a big way as she led the Bobcats with an eighth place finish out of 234 runners. The sensational effort gives Ashe her third career All-New England honor in three career appearances at the event. After missing the first three meets of the season with injury, Ashe returned to form with a solid performance and time of 18:06.6. She now has placed first on the team in all 16 career events in which she has competed and bumped her career total up to nine Top 10 finishes.
