Hanna, Zydowicz Earn Student-Athlete of the Week Awards

Field Hockey| Sophomore |Forward|5-5|Seaville, NJ| Ocean City /Rutgers

Kelly Hanna posted her second-straight three-point outing in the Hawks’ victory over Rider on Sunday.  The sophomore transfer scored to give MU a 2-1 lead heading into the break before assisting on the eventual game-winning goal in the 52nd minute.  The marine and environmental biology major has started 13 of her 14 games this season and has 14 points on five goals and four assists. 

 

Konrad Zydowicz

Men’s Soccer| Senior |Back| 5-11 | Rochester, NY | Aquinas Institute

A senior back for the Niagara men’s soccer team, Konrad Zydowicz has played all 13 games on the back line this season, making a career-best 11 starts. He earned his first career assist in a 4-0 win over Robert Morris on Aug. 26, and scored his first goal at home against the New Jersey Institute of Technology on Sept. 9. Zydowicz has helped lead one of the MAAC’s top scoring defenses in the 2016 campaign, as the Purple Eagles are currently fifth in the conference with 1.28 goals against per game.

Zydowicz has excelled in the classroom throughout his time at Niagara. A two-time MAAC All-Academic Team honoree, Zydowicz has compiled a 3.94 cumulative GPA as a business major at Niagara. He has also been nominated for the 2016 CoSIDA Men’s Soccer Academic All-District Team.
