Men’s Swimmer of the Week
Justin Carey, Rider
Freshman, 5-11, Landenberg, PA/Avon Grove High
In Rider’s victory over Fairfield, freshman Justin Carey won first place in four events. He won gold in the 200 back with a time of 2:14.35 and 800 free with a time of 8:39.10. Carey also swam on the winning 200 medley relay and also 400 free relay.
Men’s Diver of the Week
Joe Warker, Rider
Sophomore, 5-8, Reading, PA/Wilson High
In win over Fairfield, Warker won two diving events. He placed first in the 1-meter dive with a score of 267.90. Warker also finished first with a score of 260.25 in the 3-meter dive.
Women’s Swimmer of the Week
Isabella Morreale, Marist
Senior, 5-8, Short Hills, NJ/Millburn
In the Red Foxes’ 169-126 season opening victory over MAAC for Canisius, Morreale won both breaststroke events. She clocked in at 1:07.41 at 100 yards and 2:26.42 at 200 yards. After taking the top spot in the 200-yard breaststroke she only had one event to cool down, but still capped a 1-2-3 Marist finish in the 100-yard butterfly with a third place time of 1:02.61. Morreale opened the meet swimming the second leg of Marist’s first place 200-yard medley relay squad. She scored 32 points for the Red Foxes in their home meet.
Women’s Diver of the Week
Megan Berardelli, Marist
Junior, 5-3, Blue Bell, PA/Wissahickon
Berardelli took the top spot on the 1- and 3-meter board, scoring 18 points for Marist in its 169-126 win against MAAC rival Canisius in the season opener October 14. She racked up 254.25 points at one meter for a margin of victory of more than 14 points. She took the top spot at three meters by more than 34 points with a score of 269.70 points. Now in her third season, Berardelli is Marist’s current record holder in the 1- and 3-meter dives.
