Men’s Swimmer of the Week
Zack Molly, Rider
Jr., 6’0”, Toms River, NJ/Toms River North
In a victory at Lehigh, Molloy won the 100 free (46.26) and the 200 free (1:39.34) and swam on the winning 200 medley relay team. His time in the 200 free set Jacob’s Pool records and Collegeswimming.com ranked it the 39th fastest time in Division 1 just this past week. His time in the 100 was also among the top-50 in the nation. Molloy was the only mid-major swimmer in top-50. He also qualified for the US Olympic trials last summer. Molloy was the MAAC Championship Most Outstanding Swimmer last year.
Men’s Diver of the Week
Travis Wright, Canisius
Jr., 5’9”, Derby, NY/Lake Shore
The men’s diving team finished with the top two slots in the one and three-meter, with Travis Wright winning each event. Wright finished with a score of 355.70 in the one-meter event, nearly 50 points higher than the second place competitor, while scoring 380.65 in the three-meter, 80 points higher than the next closest diver.
Women’s Swimmer of the Week
Meredith Wurtz, Marist
Sr., 5’9”, Lafayette Hill, PA/William Penn Charter
Wurtz anchored the Red Foxes’ 400-yard medley relay team and placed second in a pair of individual events at a non-conference meet at Fordham on October 20. Her split of 51.95 seconds in the relay propelled Marist to its fastest dual meet time in program history (3:58.76) and a third place finish. She finished 0.14 seconds shy of first place in the 50-yard freestyle (24.62 seconds) and just .03 seconds short of the top spot in the 100-yard freestyle (53.07 seconds).
Women’s Diver of the Week
Breanne Hatter, Rider
So., 5’5”, Lincroft, NJ/Middletown South
In a meet at Lehigh, sophomore Breanne Hatter won the one-meter dive with a score of 246.29. Hatter also won the three-meter dive with a score of 247.41. This was Hatter’s second meet in a row in which she won both one and three-meter dives.
