2016 MAAC Cross Country Championships Set for Saturday, October 29 on ESPN3

LAKE BUENA VISTA, FL – The 2016 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Championships will take place Saturday, October 29th, at the ESPN Wide World of Sports in Lake Buena Vista, FL. All 11 MAAC institutions will be competing with hopes of being crowned 2016 MAAC Cross Country Champions.
The Men's Championship race will start at 8:00 a.m., followed by the Women's Championship race at 9:00 a.m. Both races can be watched on ESPN3.
The Iona College Men’s Cross Country Team will be looking to take home its 26th consecutive MAAC title. The Gaels enter the championship ranked 8th nationally in the USTFCCCA coaches poll. Iona placed 11 runners in the top 12 and of those 11 runners, seven are returning. They will be led by Brandon Allen, Chartt Miller, Johannes Motschmann and Kieran Clements, who all placed in the top five last year.
The Quinnipiac University Women’s Cross Country Team will look to go back-to-back and pursue its second straight MAAC crown. Last year, the Bobcats dethroned the Iona Gaels, who were the reigning MAAC champions for the last decade. The Bobcats are led by the 2015 runner up Niamh Ashe and fifth place finisher Emily Wolff, who will both be looking to take home the individual championship in 2016.
