Senior Kieran Clements placed second individually and was the catalyst for the Iona's dominant performance at the Paul Short Invitational.  The Gaels scored 34 points, a full 81 points better than runner-up Georgetown.

Clements crossed the finish line in 23:38, just a few seconds ahead of teammate junior Gilbert Kirui.  Senior Andrew Tario also placed in the top 10, crossing the finish line in seventh place at 23:50.

The Paul Short Invitational was full of competitive teams with four nationally ranked men's teams, including Iona (No. 16), partaking in the race.  The Hoyas entered the race as the top men's program ranked No. 8 in the nation.  The Maroon & Gold bested them, along with No. 25 Columbia and No. 26 Penn.

Iona returns to the course on Friday, Oct. 7 at the Metropolitan Championships.  The race is being held at Van Cortlandt Park.
