Cornine, Budna Earn Student-Athlete of the Week Awards

Nick Cornine
Cross Country| Sr.| Kinnelon, NJ/Morristown-Beard
A senior captain for the Saints, Cornine has left his mark both on and off the field at Siena throughout his four years. This cross country season, Cornine finished 26th overall at the MAAC Championships. He has been the top runner for the Saints this season. His efforts helped Siena take first at the Rider Invitational, the first team win in 12 years for Siena. Academically, he has a 3.11 GPA in Environmental Studies . He is a two-time MAAC All-Academic Team selection. Cornine has also played an integral part of the first year of the Men's Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field program. At the Outdoor Championship he placed 8th in the 10000m and 10th in the 5000m, while coming in 12th at the Indoor Championship in the 5000m.
Marlena Budna
Volleyball| 6-1|M| So.| Brooklyn, NY/ Fort Hamilton
The sophomore from Brooklyn, New York has made her mark during her second volleyball season in Jersey City. Budna currently ranks second in the MAAC in blocking and is one of just two players in the league averaging over one block per set (1.13). As a captain she currently leads the team not only in blocking but also kills (135).
Budna has registered a total of 182.5 points out of 21 games this season. On Sunday, October 23 Budna was one kill shy of matching her career high of 16 kills as she posted in 15 against Canisius.
