2016 MAAC Volleyball Championship Field Set

EDISON, NJ – Following the conclusion of the 2016 MAAC Volleyball Regular Season this afternoon, the 2016 MAAC Volleyball Championship matchups have been set.
Fairfield University finished with a perfect 18-0 record in MAAC play to claim the top seed in this weekend’s championship and have earned a first-round bye. The Stags will serve as the hosts of the 2016 MAAC Volleyball Championship at Alumni Hall in Fairfield, CT. Fairfield will face the winner of fourth seeded Rider University and fifth seeded Siena College on Saturday, November 19 at 2:00 p.m.
Marist College earned the number two seed and the other first-round bye after going 12-6 in conference play. The Red Foxes will face the winner of third seeded Quinnipiac University and sixth seeded Niagara University on Saturday, November 19 at 5:00 p.m.
Quinnipiac University claimed the third seed after going 11-7 in MAAC play. The Bobcats, who hold the tiebreaker over Rider University, were 1-17 in conference play a season ago and were picked ninth in the preseason poll back in August. The Bobcats will face sixth seeded Niagara University, who went 10-8 in conference play in the first match of the 2016 MAAC Volleyball Championship on Friday, November 18 at 5:00 p.m.
Fourth seeded Rider University, who finished the season 11-7 in conference play, will take on fifth seeded Siena College, who went 10-8 in the MAAC. The Saints hold the tiebreaker over Niagara. The Broncs and the Saints square off on Friday, November 18 at 8:00 p.m. in a first-round matchup.
The 2016 MAAC Volleyball Championship Match is on Sunday, November 20 at 2:00 p.m. The 2016 MAAC Volleyball Champion will earn the leagues automatic bid to the NCAA Volleyball Tournament. The NCAA Volleyball selection show airs on Sunday, November 27 at 9 p.m. on ESPNU.
