Men’s Swimmer of the Week

Alexander Pizzo, Niagara

Jr., 5’8”, Johnson, NY/Minisink Valley

Pizzo was a double-winner in both of Niagara’s meets this past weekend as the Purple Eagles scored wins over Waterloo (115-73) on October  5 and Colgate (157-78) on October 6. The junior won both of his distance events against the University of Waterloo Warriors, taking first in the 500 free with a season-best 4:45.79, and in the 1000 free with a time of 9:58.46. Against Colgate, when the Purple Eagles won all 13 events on the men’s side, Pizzo earned his second 500 free victory of the weekend, swimming a 4:51.20. He also won the 200 free with a time of 1:46.09.

Men’s Diver of the Week

JaRon Williams, Niagara

Sr., Niagara Falls, NY

Williams swept the men’s diving events as Niagara defeated Colgate 157-78 on October 6, as the Purple Eagles took first place in all 13 events against the Raiders. The Niagara Falls native took first in 3-meter diving with a score of 297.68, which was a career-best and moved him into second in the program’s top 10 for the event. He also took first in 1-meter diving for the second consecutive meet at 259.50.

Women’s Swimmer of the Week

Kali Nembach, Manhattan

Fr., Lynbrook, NY/Lynbrook

Nembach recorded four first-place finishes in the Jaspers’ 137-122 victory over St. Francis Brooklyn.  She won the 50 yard freestyle in a time of 25.95 seconds and then registered a 56.58-second clocking to take first in the 100 yard freestyle.  Nembach was also a member of Manhattan’s victorious squads in both the 200 yard medley relay and 200 yard freestyle relay.

Women’s Diver of the Week

Megan Berardelli, Marist

Jr., 5’3”, Blue Bell, PA/Wissahickon

Berardelli won both diving events when Marist beat Fairfield, 168-126, on November 5 and improved to 22-0 all-time against the Stags. She started the competition with a first place score of 227.03 points at one-meter, then followed up with 244.73 points at three-meters, a mark more than 24 points ahead of the rest of the field. Berardelli has already qualified for the NCAA Zone A Qualifier Diving Championships.
