Quinnipiac Women's Basketball Placed Sixth in College Insider Mid-Major Top 25 Poll

EDISON, NJ – Quinnipiac University’s Women’s Basketball team placed sixth in this week’s College Insider Mid-Major Top 25 Poll. This marks the seventh week in a row that Quinnipiac has been ranked in the Top 10 dating back to November 15.
Green Bay captured the top spot, receiving 27 out of a possible 31 first place votes. Gonzaga, Buffalo, Ohio, and Drake pulled ahead of Quinnipiac at sixth overall. The Bobcats are coming off a two-win week after going (2-1) in the inaugural Play4Kay Shootout in Las Vegas, NV.
Quinnipiac defeated New Mexico State, 49-46 in its first game of the tournament on December 19 and also picked up a victory over Long Beach State, 63-60 in its last game on December 21. The Bobcats’ lone loss of the Play4Kay Shootout came against No. 25 Oregon State, 75-60 on December 20.
Quinnipiac returns to action on Friday, December 30 against Rider University at 7:00 p.m. from Alumni Gym in Lawrenceville, NJ. Both teams come into the matchup with a (2-0) record in MAAC play and stand as the only two teams in the league who haven’t lost a conference game in the early portion of the slate.
The Bobcats rank first in the MAAC in scoring defense (59.2 ppg), scoring margin (+8.8), field goal percentage defense (36.0%), three-point field goal percentage defense (26.0%), blocks (4.6 bpg), assists (16.8 apg), steals (11.9 spg), turnover margin (+5.42), and assist/turnover ratio (1.0).
For the third week in a row Rider received votes in the poll, but did not crack the Top 25. The Broncs received 38 votes this week.
