This Week in MAAC Sports; February 15
EDISON, NJ – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) heads into the final weeks of the basketball regular season with the 2016 MAAC Basketball Championship is less than three weeks away. This past weekend, the Rider men’s and Marist swimming and diving teams were crowned 2016 champions. The 2016 MAAC Indoor Track and Field Championship takes place this Sunday, February 21 at the New Balance Armory Track and Field Center in New York, NY and is hosted by Manhattan College. In men’s basketball news, the Monmouth Hawks remain in first place with a 13-2 MAAC and 21-5 overall record after defeating Rider on Justin Robinson’s game-winning three-pointer with 3.4 seconds at home to extend the Hawks winning streak to seven games. With the win, Monmouth has clinched a first round bye in the upcoming MAAC men’s basketball championship. The Siena duo of Brett Bisping and Nico Clareth took home this week’s weekly awards after the Saints knocked off second place Iona and Canisius. This week’s men’s basketball schedule is below:

In women’s basketball news, the Quinnipiac Bobcats are on a 12-game winning streak after defeating first place Iona and Saint Peter’s in league play last week. Aryn McClure won her 4th MAAC Rookie of the Week honor this season while Rider’s Robin Perkins took home MAAC Player of the Week honors. Fairfield is on a seven-game winning streak and has jumped into 4th place in the standings with its 10-6 conference record. This week’s women’s basketball schedule includes:

In men’s lacrosse news, Chris Daly and Nick Hreshko of Monmouth and Parker Giarratana took home the first men’s lacrosse awards of the 2016 season.
