Defending Champion Jacksonville University Selected as Women's Rowing Preseason Favorite

EDISON, NJ – Defending Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) champion Jacksonville University has been named the preseason favorite to repeat as women’s rowing champions, according to the vote of the leagues 10 head coaches. Jacksonville earned a total seven first place votes, totaling 88 points.
In 2015 the Dolphins won its second MAAC Women’s Rowing Championship trophy after scoring 53 points to defeat Marist College by six points. For the second year in a row, Jacksonville won the Women’s I Eight’s Grand Final with a time of 6:46.927 and the Women’s II Eight Grand Final with a time of 7:09.135.
Coming in second in the poll is Marist College with a total of 80 points, while receiving two first place votes from the coaches. Marist finished second last year in the MAAC Championships with a total of 47 points. Canisius College and Fairfield University are tied for third with 66 votes. Robert Morris University comes in fifth place with 45 votes. In sixth place with 42 votes is Drake University. Iona College is in seventh place with 39 votes. Stetson University and Sacred Heart University are in eighth and ninth place with 34 and 22 votes, respectively. Rounding out the preseason poll is Manhattan College with 13 votes.
