EDISON, NJ – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) basketball regular season enters its final week with major implications for the upcoming championship. Behind 31 points from the MAAC men’s basketball player of the week, A.J. English, Iona knocked off first place Monmouth on the road. The Hawks can clinch the number one overall seed in the championship tonight if Siena defeats Iona. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m. and can be seen on ESPN3. The schedule for the final week of the regular season includes:

·         Marist versus Rider on Tuesday, February 23 at 7:00 p.m.

·         Manhattan versus Saint Peter’s on Tuesday, February 23 at 8:00 p.m. on ESPN3

·         Fairfield versus Siena on Wednesday, February 24 at 7:00 p.m.

·         Canisius versus Niagara on Thursday, February 25 at 8:00 p.m. on ESPN3

·         Manhattan versus Iona on Friday, February 26 at 7:00 p.m. on ESPNU

In women’s basketball news, Tori Jarosz earned her fourth MAAC women’s basketball player of the week award after averaging 26.5 points and 14.5 rebounds for Marist. She scored the game-winning layup with 1.8 seconds left to give the Red Foxes a win over Fairfield. Iona is currently in first place with a 15-3 MAAC record and holds a one game lead over Quinnipiac who is on a 14-game winning streak. Marist is in third place at 13-5 in the MAAC. In men’s lacrosse news, Joseph Radin and Brian Corrigan of Marist took home offensive and defensive player of the week honors. Keenan Cook of Marist was named MAAC men’s lacrosse rookie of the week. For women’s lacrosse, Mary-Kate McCormick of Iona was named offensive player of the week. Her teammate, Christine Gironda was named rookie of the week. Monmouth’s Caroline Huelster was named defensive player of the week

Marist, Monmouth and Niagara all recorded its first wins of the season this past weekend on the baseball field. Marist softball is out to a 4-1 start while Manhattan and Siena have two wins each. Niagara and Canisus each have one win early on in 2016.
