WASHINGTON, D.C. - Marist men's lacrosse senior attack Joseph Radin was one of 50 candidates on the men's watch list for the Tewaaraton Award.

The Tewaaraton Foundation released the first wave of men's and women's candidates of 2016 on Monday night. The lists include the top players across all three divisions of NCAA Lacrosse and highlight the early contenders for the honor, presented by Under Armour.

The Tewaaraton Award annually honors the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States and symbolizes lacrosse’s centuries-old roots in Native American heritage. The selection committees are comprised of premier collegiate coaches and are appointed annually by the Tewaaraton Foundation. Players can be added to the watch list as the season progresses, but do not necessarily have to be included on the list to become a nominee.

Watch list additions, if applicable, will be announced on March 17 and April 7. On April 28, the field will be narrowed to 25 men’s and 25 women’s nominees. Five men’s and five women’s finalists will be announced on May 12 and invited to the ceremony. The 16th Annual Tewaaraton Award Ceremony will be held June 2 in Washington, D.C.

Radin was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week after picking up a hat trick in the Red Foxes' four overtime season opener against Air Force on Feb. 20. He has now scored in 17 straight contests dating back to last season. Radin is also a nominee for the 2016 Senior CLASS Award in men's lacrosse, which honors student-athletes that have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.

Marist will host Binghamton in its next contest. Opening faceoff is slated for 2 p.m. Feb. 27 in Tenney Stadium.
