WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ - On Wednesday afternoon, the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) announced the Corvias ECAC Men’s and Women's Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for the week ending January 31, as juniors Zack McDermott (Little Silver, NJ/Christian Brothers Academy) and Lindsey Bellaran (Farmingdale, NJ/Red Bank Catholic) were honored.

McDermott broke the school record en route to his victory in the heptathlon at Bucknell this weekend, capturing 4,638 total points. McDermott, who finished first in four events (60 meter dash, long jump, shot put, 60 meter hurdles) and second in another (high jump), qualified for the IC4A Championships with his performance. He led after day one with 2,707 points after four events.

Bellaran ran the anchor leg in Monmouth’s Distance Medley Relay team at the Penn State National on Friday night, as the squad broke the school record by over 10 seconds, crossing in 11:33. The DMR time was a top-25 mark in the NCAA this year. On Saturday, Bellaran returned to action to break the school record in the mile, finishing with an ECAC qualifying time of 4:50.56, which was eighth-best on the day.

Monmouth returns to action on Friday, February 5 when the Hawks compete at the Armory Track Invitational at the New York Armory.
