Adams averaged 15.7 points per game, 19.3 rebounds per game, 3.7 assists per game, 1.7 steals per game, and 0.7 blocks per game. She played 36.7 minutes per game, and shot 34.6% from the floor, and 90.9% from the free throw line On Monday, Feb. 1, senior Joy Adams made history by becoming the All-Time Leading Rebounder in Iona College women’s basketball program history; she grabbed her fourth rebound of the game, the record breaker, her 1,431st career board, with 2:37 remaining in the first quarter. In the Gaels overtime win against the Canisius College Golden Griffs, Adams played 42 minutes, scoring 22 points on nine-for-24 (.375) shooting; she also pulled down a team-high 14 rebounds, seven offensive, and seven defensive. Add in two assists, two steals, and two blocks. On Wednesday, Feb. 5, Iona hosted the Monmouth Hawks at the Hynes Athletics Center and came away with a 68-56 win. Adams scored 13 points, shooting four-for-16 (.250) from the floor, and recording a perfect five-for-five from the free throw line. In a game in which Joy Adams was honored with a pregame ceremony for now being the All-Time Leading Rebounder in Iona and MAAC women’s basketball history, the Orlando, FL native showed off what she does best. Adams grabbed 24 rebounds against the Hawks, 12 offensive, and 12 defensive. In the game against Monmouth, Adams also dished out a career-high eight assists. To close out the week in a Gaels 67-48 win, Adams recorded her second straight 20+ rebounding effort on Sunday, Feb. 7 on the road against the Rider University Broncs. In just 29 minutes, she grabbed 20 rebounds, scored 12 points, and nabbed two steals.
Rookie of the Week
Paula Strautmane, Quinnipiac

The reigning MAAC Rookie of the Week had herself another standout week as she averaged 13 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.7 blocks in 26.7 minutes per game, leading the Bobcats to another undefeated week (3-0) and up the team’s winning streak to 10 straight games. Strautmane continues to be a go-to scorer in the low post as she led Quinnipiac in scoring for the week while shooting at least 50 percent from the floor in all three games for the Bobcats. For the week, Strautmane finished 57.1 percent from the floor and went 14-of-15 at the free throw line (93.3 percent). She started the week with 12 points, eight rebounds and three blocks in 26 minutes in a win over Saint Peter’s on Tuesday. Strautmane’s highlight game of the week came on Friday in front of the national spotlight on ESPNU as she led the way with 18 points (4-6 FG, 9-10 FT), eight rebounds, three assists, three steals and two blocks in 30 minutes as the Bobcats defeated Siena, 69-59. Her 18-point night led the Bobcats while her nine made free throws stand as the most for a Bobcat in a single-game this season. Her week ended with another solid day as she went for nine points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals in 24 minutes as the Bobcats defeated Niagara, 70-52.
