Men’s Track Performer of the Week
Will Stallings, Manhattan
So., Sleepy Hollow, NY/ Sleepy Hollow
Stallings qualified for IC4As in three different events over the weekend at the Metropolitan Indoor Championships. He placed second out of 31 competitors in the 200 meters event, clocking a time of 22.11 seconds. He then went on to take third place in the 400 meters event, finishing in 48.62. The sophomore from Sleepy Hollow finished the day by running the anchor leg of the Jaspers’ 4x400 meter relay team that finished in second place with a time of 3:18.82.
Men’s Field Performer of the Week
Charles Wilks, Rider
Sr., Secane, PA/ Cardinal O’ Hara
Wilks helped the Broncs win the TCNJ Dual over the weekend, winning both the shot put and the weight throw. In the shot put event, Wilks was victorious in the event with an IC4A qualifying distance of 15.98 meters, which puts him at second of all time on Rider’s indoor records. Wilks proceeded to place first in the weight throw event as well, posting a personal best distance of 14.95 meters.
Women’s Track Performer of the Week
Jenna Cupp, Monmouth
Jr., Newark Valley, NY/ Newark Valley
Cupp ran the lead off leg of the Hawks’ distance medley relay team, which set a new school-record with a time of 11:26.44. This performance by the Hawks made them the 17th fastest team in the NCAA this season, and allowed them to finish third at the 2016 Armory Track Invitational over the weekend. On Saturday, Jenna Cupp went on to run the second fastest mile time in the Hawks’ history, crossing the finish line in 2:10.13, giving her an eighth place finish at the meet.
Women’s Field Performer of the Week
Charlene Pohl, Manhattan
So., Bisingen, Germany/ Gymnasium Balingen
Pohl placed first in the pentathlon at the Metropolitan Indoor Championships for the Jaspers over the weekend. First, the sophomore from Bisingen, Germany posted a season-best time of 9.47 seconds in the 60 meter hurdles. In the long jump, Pohl took a 21 point lead by jumping 5.57 meters. In the final event of the pentathlon, Pohl ran her way to victory in the 800 meters with a time of 2:30.46. Pohl’s final first place score was 3316 points, which was 109 points ahead of the runner-up.
