Buffalo, NY - The Canisius athletic department announced today that all 14 home men’s and women’s lacrosse games will be broadcast live on either ESPN3 or Time Warner Cable Sports Channel, starting today when the women’s lacrosse team plays host to Binghamton.
Three men’s lacrosse games will be shown live on ESPN3 and seven of eight women’s lacrosse home dates will be broadcast live on ESPN3. Three of the men’s lacrosse games will be broadcast throughout New York State on Time Warner Sports Channel, starting March 5 when Canisius meets Boston University at the Demske Sports Complex. Those games will also be shown on a pay-per-view basis through the Golden Griffin Broadcast Network at GoGriffs.com. Games produced by Time Warner Cable will be blacked out online in New York State as part of contractual obligations.
The women’s lacrosse home opener on Tuesday, March 1, will be broadcast live on Time Warner Cable Sports Channel and GoGriffs.com with the same blackout rules as the men’s games. The women’s team will appear on ESPN3 for the first time on March 16 when the Griffs play host to Louisville. The first men’s lacrosse home game on ESPN3 will be Saturday, April 2, when the Blue and Gold meets MAAC rival Monmouth.
Last spring, Canisius announced that it has entered into a new agreement with ESPN, under which its students will produce live Canisius athletic programing for ESPN3. The multi-camera HD game productions will feature full ESPN-branded graphics, replays and two or three-person broadcast crews. The student productions will be directed by Canisius’ athletic communications and digital media staffs. These events will be available to more than 99 million households and by an additional 21 million U.S.-based college students and military personnel. To date, Canisius has produced 46 home events, covering men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s soccer and volleyball.
