HAMDEN, Connecticut – The Quinnipiac University women's basketball team is set to host the University of Maine Black Bears on Friday, March 18 in round one action of the Women's National Invitational Tournament (WNIT). The game time will be announced on Tuesday afternoon by the WNIT.

Quinnipiac is in the WNIT field for the fourth time in program history and will be hosting a First Round game for just the second time. The Bobcats are 0-3 in the WNIT after making appearances in 2008, 2012 and 2014. Quinnipiac fell to Iona in their only national postseason home game back in 2008 and most recently fell to Temple in 2012 and Villanova in 2014, both matchups coming on the road.

This will be just the third meeting in the series history, as Maine claimed wins in both prior matchups in 2007 and 2009.

Maine has been ranked in the national mid-major Top 25 poll all season, currently holding the No. 14 ranking as of Tuesday morning. The Black Bears own a record of 26-8 overall and wrapped up America East play with a 15-1 mark to own a share of the Regular Season Championship with Albany. In 2015-16, Maine owns some impressive wins in defeating Missouri State, LSU and Clemson while also falling at North Carolina by the slim margin of 59-58 back on Dec. 31. Maine was undefeated (12-0) at home this season and 10-7 away from Orono. Since the start of last season, Maine owns an overall mark of 49-14 (.778) and have advanced to the WNIT in two straight seasons. Sigi Koizar is the lone Black Bear averaging in double figures as the America East First Team selection averages 17.5 points on 48.3 percent shooting and 43.2 percent from three-point range to go along with 4.1 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.5 steals in 35 minutes per game.
