EDISON, NJ –Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) games started this past weekend for men’s lacrosse, while conference play begins this week on the women’s side.
In men’s lacrosse news, Canisius, Detroit and Marist all recorded its first conference wins of the young season. The Griffs were led by two-time MAAC Men’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, Connor Kearnan, who scored five goals to go along with four assists. Detroit’s Jason Weber held the Jaspers to program record low three goals in the Titans 9-3 win to earn Defensive Player of the Week honors. Monmouth’s Eamon Campbell had a five-point week for the Hawks (three goals, two assists.) Marist was led by Joseph Radin who scored four goals and added an assist in Marist’s 9-8 win over Monmouth. Brain Corrigan had a strong performance in the net, recording 13 saves including the potential game-tying goal toward the end of regulation.

· Detroit versus Air Force on Saturday, March 26 at 1:00 p.m.
· Manhattan versus Monmouth on Saturday, March 26 at 4:30 p.m.

In women’s lacrosse news, Siena currently leads the standings with a 5-3 record. Fairfield, Manhattan and Monmouth all have four wins apiece. Siena’s Sarah Croutier earned MAAC Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week with an 11 point weekend (9 goals, 2 assists) for the Saints. Her teammate, Lauren Smith, earned Defensive Player of the Week honors with a career-high 10 draw controls. She recorded her 100th career point and groundball, becoming the 11th player in program history to eclipse 100 points and second with 100 points, 100 groundballs and 100 draw controls. Niagara’s Caroline Crump earned Rookie of the Week honors with five goals in the Purple Eagles 12-11 win over Mount St. Mary’s. The five goals are the most by a Niagara player since April of last season.
